Understanding the Digital SAT

Why the SAT Matters (Especially for International Students)

If you're applying to universities in the United States, the SAT is often a key part of your application. It’s a standardized test used by U.S. colleges to compare students from very different school systems around the world. For European applicants, a strong SAT score can help bridge the gap between your local curriculum (like IB, A-Levels, or national diplomas) and American admissions standards. It shows universities that you're ready for college-level work, and it can also boost your chances for merit scholarships. In short: the SAT is your chance to stand out, no matter where you're from.

The SAT is now shorter, sharper, and fully digital. Here’s what to expect:

Reading & Writing

54 questions, 64 minutes

Math

44 questions, 70 minutes

Total Duration

2 hours 14 minutes, with a 10-minute break

Both sections are adaptive - your performance in the first module influences the difficulty of the second. That’s why strategic prep matters more than ever.

FAQs

Questions about SAT Tutoring

Can I take the SAT more than once?

Yes, and most colleges “superscore,” meaning they take your best section scores from different dates.

Is the SAT all multiple-choice now?

Yes. Both Reading & Writing and Math sections use only multiple-choice formats.

Do I need a calculator?

Yes, and you can use it for the entire Math section. Just make sure it’s on the College Board’s approved list.

What’s the smartest way to prep?

Tailored tutoring + official practice materials + consistent feedback = the winning formula.

Daniella offered me the exact support I was wishing for in my Oxford-Interview-prep. She is very kind, understanding, and creates a comforting environment, in which I was able to get out of my comfort zone, and practice my speaking skills without fearing any form of judgement.

Leni, student (DE)

My son was convinced he was going to fail, and hiring a virtual tutor seemed like a last ditch attempt to avoid failure. The result of a series of sessions was that my son just learned that he earned his IB Diploma with one of the highest scores in the school, and with a good solid score in the subject matter he was most concerned about.

Sarah Otterstrom, parent (US)

I have had several tutors from several subjects, all have been amazing people and knowledgeable in their fields. They were all different people with varying personalities but each gave a genuine experience.
